US Navy Chief Petty & Officer Cutlass

We are proud to offer this accurate reproduction of a beautiful and rare United States 1860 Naval Officer's Cutlass. As was standard in all branches of the U. S. Armed Services, Naval Officers had an option to purchase Non Regulation Swords or Cutlasses.  Officers while aboard a warship preferred the short 26 inch cutlass to the longer decorative 32" - 34" sword.  The model of choice was an 1860 Naval Cutlass incised "USN" (United States Navy) into a beautiful scalloped shell design stamped into the guard. The Ames Sword Company catalog refers to this model as the "Officer's Cutlass" and since then this designation has been used.           SX10X - $175.00
