Texas Dragoon Saber - In 1836, Texas having won its independence from Mexico formed the Republic of Texas. In 1839, the Texas Government contracted with Ames Mfg. Co. for 280 M1833 "Texas" Dragoons Sabers. These are exactly like the 1833 United States Dragoons saber except for the blade inscription, which has "Texas Dragoons" in script.
